Artificial intelligence is already writing, grading, and advising - in classrooms, training centers, and universities - often before institutions have decided whether it should. This bilingual masterclass gives educators, adult-learning professionals, researchers, and policymakers a practical, jargon-free foundation for understanding AI and making informed decisions about its use in education.
Led by Carl Sylvain, with Dominique Noisette as a featured contributor, the session brings together complementary perspectives on governance, responsible adoption, technology, and the practical integration of AI into teaching and learning. The experience unfolds through four interlocking pieces. Comprendre / Understand: explore AI in plain language, distinguish what it can and cannot do, and challenge common misconceptions. Voir / See it work: experience AI applied live to a real educational task. Appliquer / Apply: work through educational scenarios - including personalized feedback, micro-credential design, early-warning systems, and recognition of prior learning - to identify which family of AI fits: generative, predictive, or agentic. Protéger / Safeguard: examine algorithmic bias, transparency, learner-data governance, overreliance, and the digital divide, alongside practical strategies for responsible adoption.
This is a participatory masterclass rather than a traditional lecture. Roughly fifteen minutes belong to participants, working and debating in small groups. Everyone leaves with a reusable bilingual AI-literacy checklist - six questions to ask before trusting an AI system with learners. No technical background is required.
